¹¹ My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, That I may answer him that reproacheth me.

¹ The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

⁴² So shall I have an answer for him that reproacheth me; For I trust in thy word.

¹⁵ My son, if thy heart be wise, My heart will be glad, even mine:

¹⁶ Yea, my heart will rejoice, When thy lips speak right things.

⁴ I rejoice greatly that I have found `certain' of thy children walking in truth, even as we received commandment from the Father.

¹⁹ I Paul write it with mine own hand, I will repay it: that I say not unto thee that thou owest to me even thine own self besides.

²⁰ Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my heart in Christ.

⁷ For I had much joy and comfort in thy love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through thee, brother.

¹⁸ And I hated all my labor wherein I labored under the sun, seeing that I must leave it unto the man that shall be after me.

¹⁹ And who knoweth whether he will be a wise man or a fool? yet will he have rule over all my labor wherein I have labored, and wherein I have showed myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

²⁰ Therefore I turned about to cause my heart to despair concerning all the labor wherein I had labored under the sun.

²¹ For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, and with knowledge, and with skilfulness; yet to a man that hath not labored therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil.

³ Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; But he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth `his' substance.

²⁴ The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; And he that begetteth a wise child will have joy of him.

²⁵ Let thy father and thy mother be glad, And let her that bare thee rejoice.

²⁰ A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish man despiseth his mother.

⁴ As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, So are the children of youth.
