³² If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, Or if thou hast thought evil, `Lay' thy hand upon thy mouth.

⁵ Mark me, and be astonished, And lay your hand upon your mouth.

⁴ Behold, I am of small account; What shall I answer thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth.

²⁸ Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise; When he shutteth his lips, he is `esteemed as' prudent.

¹² Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope of a fool than of him.

³ Be not hasty to go out of his presence; persist not in an evil thing: for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.

⁴ For the king's word `hath' power; and who may say unto him, What doest thou?

¹⁶ The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might; they shall lay their hand upon their mouth; their ears shall be deaf.

¹⁷ They shall lick the dust like a serpent; like crawling things of the earth they shall come trembling out of their close places; they shall come with fear unto Jehovah our God, and shall be afraid because of thee.

¹⁹ Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God:
