¹⁷ Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood;

²² Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; But they that deal truly are his delight.

¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

⁵ Whoso privily slandereth his neighbor, him will I destroy: Him that hath a high look and a proud heart will I not suffer.

² Deliver my soul, O Jehovah, from lying lips, `And' from a deceitful tongue.

³ What shall be given unto thee, and what shall be done more unto thee, Thou deceitful tongue?

¹¹ If they say, Come with us, Let us lay wait for blood; Let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause;

⁵ A faithful witness will not lie; But a false witness uttereth lies.

⁴ A high look, and a proud heart, `Even' the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

²⁸ A lying tongue hateth those whom it hath wounded; And a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

¹³ There is a generation, oh how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up.

¹¹ The lofty looks of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.

⁹ The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have done evil unto themselves.

¹⁶ Moreover Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet;

²⁷ For thou wilt save the afflicted people; But the haughty eyes thou wilt bring down.

⁶ Thou wilt destroy them that speak lies: Jehovah abhorreth the blood-thirsty and deceitful man.

¹⁰ that innocent blood be not shed in the midst of thy land, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.

⁴ and also for the innocent blood that he shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood: and Jehovah would not pardon.

⁴ The wicked, in the pride of his countenance, `saith', He will not require `it'. All his thoughts are, There is no God.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips be dumb, Which speak against the righteous insolently, With pride and contempt.

⁶ Therefore pride is as a chain about their neck; Violence covereth them as a garment.

⁷ Their eyes stand out with fatness: They have more than heart could wish.

⁸ They scoff, and in wickedness utter oppression: They speak loftily.

¹ Jehovah, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; Neither do I exercise myself in great matters, Or in things too wonderful for me.

⁷ Excellent speech becometh not a fool; Much less do lying lips a prince.

³ For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue muttereth wickedness.

⁴ None sueth in righteousness, and none pleadeth in truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

⁵ They hatch adders' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth; and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.

⁶ Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

⁷ Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their paths.

¹ Hear the word of Jehovah, ye children of Israel; for Jehovah hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.

² There is nought but swearing and breaking faith, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery; they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

⁴⁴ Ye are of `your' father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.

⁵ Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.

¹⁵ Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.

²⁵ Cursed be he that taketh a bribe to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.
