²² He goeth after her straightway, As an ox goeth to the slaughter, Or as `one in' fetters to the correction of the fool;

²⁷ Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, And markest all my paths; Thou settest a bound to the soles of my feet:

² Then Pashhur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the house of Jehovah.

¹³ And the priest of Jupiter whose `temple' was before the city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the multitudes.

²⁴ who, having received such a charge, cast them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
