⁴ As for the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the ways of the violent.

⁵ And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

¹¹ They have over them as king the angel of the abyss: his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek `tongue' he hath the name Apollyon.

⁸ Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,

² that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

³ For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:

¹⁸ Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

³ for ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you jealousy and strife, are ye not carnal, and do ye not walk after the manner of men?

¹⁷ Sanctify them in the truth: thy word is truth.

¹⁰ Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

⁷ Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.

⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

¹⁰ For wisdom shall enter into thy heart, And knowledge shall be pleasant unto thy soul;

¹¹ Discretion shall watch over thee; Understanding shall keep thee:

¹² To deliver thee from the way of evil, From the men that speak perverse things;

¹³ Who forsake the paths of uprightness, To walk in the ways of darkness;

¹⁴ Who rejoice to do evil, And delight in the perverseness of evil;

¹⁵ Who are crooked in their ways, And wayward in their paths:

⁹ BETH. Wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed `thereto' according to thy word.

¹⁰ With my whole heart have I sought thee: Oh let me not wander from thy commandments.

¹¹ Thy word have I laid up in my heart, That I might not sin against thee.

¹ The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works; There is none that doeth good.

² Jehovah looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, That did seek after God.

³ They are all gone aside; they are together become filthy; There is none that doeth good, no, not one.

³³ If like Adam I have covered my transgressions, By hiding mine iniquity in my bosom,

¹⁶ How much less one that is abominable and corrupt, A man that drinketh iniquity like water!

¹¹ And the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

¹¹ And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their life even unto death.
