¹⁰ My heart throbbeth, my strength faileth me: As for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.

⁷ Mine eye wasteth away because of grief; It waxeth old because of all mine adversaries.

⁹ Mine eye wasteth away by reason of affliction: I have called daily upon thee, O Jehovah; I have spread forth my hands unto thee.

³ I am weary with my crying; my throat is dried: Mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

¹⁶ The crown is fallen from our head: Woe unto us! for we have sinned.

¹⁷ For this our heart is faint; For these things our eyes are dim;

¹¹ Mine eyes do fail with tears, my heart is troubled; My liver is poured upon the earth, because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, Because the young children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.

⁴ My heart fluttereth, horror hath affrighted me; the twilight that I desired hath been turned into trembling unto me.

⁴ Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is desolate.

⁵ I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy doings; I muse on the work of thy hands.

⁶ I spread forth my hands unto thee: My soul `thirsteth' after thee, as a weary land. Selah

⁷ Make haste to answer me, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth: Hide not thy face from me, Lest I become like them that go down into the pit.

¹²³ Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, And for thy righteous word.

⁸¹ KAPH. My soul fainteth for thy salvation; `But' I hope in thy word.

⁸² Mine eyes fail for thy word, While I say, When wilt thou comfort me?

⁸³ For I am become like a wine-skin in the smoke; Yet do I not forget thy statutes.

¹ As the hart panteth after the water brooks, So panteth my soul after thee, O God.

¹⁰ For my life is spent with sorrow, And my years with sighing: My strength faileth because of mine iniquity, And my bones are wasted away.

²⁷ But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.

²⁸ Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth food this day. And the people were faint.

²⁹ Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.
