1 Ref Now the feast of unleavened bread was near, which is called the Passover.
2 Ref And the chief priests and the scribes were looking for a chance to put him to death, but they went in fear of the people.
3 Ref And Satan came into Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve.
4 Ref And he went away and had a discussion with the chief priests and the rulers, about how he might give him up to them.
5 Ref And they were glad, and undertook to give him money.
6 Ref And he made an agreement with them to give him up to them, if he got a chance, when the people were not present.
7 Ref And the day of unleavened bread came, when the Passover lamb is put to death.
8 Ref And Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, Go and make the Passover ready for us, so that we may take it.
9 And they said to him, Where are we to get it ready?
10 Ref And he said to them, When you go into the town you will see a man coming to you with a vessel of water; go after him into the house into which he goes.
11 Ref And say to the master of the house, The Master says, Where is the guest-room, where I may take the Passover with my disciples?
12 Ref And he will take you up to a great room with a table and seats: there make ready.
13 Ref And they went, and it was as he had said: and they made the Passover ready.
14 Ref And when the time had come, he took his seat, and the Apostles with him.
15 Ref And he said, I have had a great desire to keep this Passover with you before I come to my death;
16 Ref For I say to you, I will not take it till it is made complete in the kingdom of God.
17 Ref And he took a cup and, having given praise, he said, Make division of this among yourselves;
18 Ref For I say to you, I will not take of the fruit of the vine till the kingdom of God has come.
19 Ref And he took bread and, having given praise, he gave it to them when it had been broken, saying, This is my body, which is given for you: do this in memory of me.
20 Ref And in the same way, after the meal, he took the cup, saying, This cup is the new testament, made with my blood which is given for you.
21 Ref But the hand of him who is false to me is with me at the table.
22 Ref For it will be done to the Son of man after the purpose of God, but unhappy is that man by whom he is given up.
23 Ref And they were wondering among themselves which of them it was who would do this thing.
24 Ref And there was an argument among them about which of them was the greatest.
25 Ref And he said, The kings of the Gentiles are lords over them, and those who have authority are given names of honour.
26 Ref But let it not be so with you; but he who is greater, let him become like the younger; and he who is chief, like a servant.
27 Ref For which is greater, the guest who is seated at a meal or the servant who is waiting on him? is it not the guest? but I am among you as a servant.
28 Ref But you are those who have kept with me through my troubles;
29 Ref And I will give you a kingdom as my Father has given one to me,
30 Ref So that you may take food and drink at my table in my kingdom, and be seated like kings, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 Ref Simon, Simon, Satan has made a request to have you, so that he may put you to the test as grain is tested:
32 Ref But I have made prayer for you, that your faith may not go from you: and when you are turned again, make your brothers strong.
33 Ref And he said to him, Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.
34 Ref And he said, I say to you, Peter, before the cock's second cry today, you will say three times that you have no knowledge of me.
35 Ref And he said to them, When I sent you out without money or bag or shoes, were you in need of anything? And they said, Nothing.
36 And he said to them, But now, he who has a money-bag, or a bag for food, let him take it: and he who has not, let him give his coat for money and get a sword.
37 Ref For I say to you that these words will be put into effect in me, And he was numbered among the evil-doers: for what has been said in the Writings about me has an end.
38 Ref And they said, Lord, here are two swords. And he said, It is enough.
39 Ref And he came out, and went, as his way was, to the Mountain of Olives, and the disciples went with him.
40 Ref And when he came to the place, he said to them, Make a prayer that you may not be put to the test.
41 Ref And he went a little distance away from them and, falling on his knees in prayer, he said,
42 Ref Father, if it is your pleasure, take this cup from me: but still, let your pleasure, not mine, be done.
43 Ref And an angel from heaven came to him, to give him strength.
44 Ref And being in great trouble of soul, the force of his prayer became stronger, and great drops, like blood, came from him, falling to the earth.
45 Ref And, getting up from prayer, he came to the disciples, and saw that they were sleeping for sorrow.
46 Ref And he said, Why are you sleeping? Get up, and give yourselves to prayer, so that you may not be put to the test.
47 Ref And while he was saying these words, there came a band of people, and Judas, one of the twelve, was in front of them, and he came near to Jesus to give him a kiss.
48 Ref But Jesus said to him, Judas, will you be false to the Son of man with a kiss?
49 Ref And when those who were with him saw what was coming, they said, Lord, may we not make use of our swords?
50 Ref And one of them gave a blow to the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
51 Ref But Jesus, answering, said, Put up with this, at least. And touching his ear, he made it well.
52 Ref And Jesus said to the chief priests and the captains of the Temple and the rulers, who had come against him, Have you come out as against a thief, with swords and sticks?
53 Ref When I was in the Temple with you every day, your hands were not stretched out against me: but this is your hour, and the authority of the dark power.
54 Ref And they made him a prisoner and took him away to the house of the high priest. But Peter went after them at a distance.
55 Ref And a fire was lighted in the middle of the open square, and they were seated together, and Peter was among them.
56 Ref And a certain woman-servant, seeing him in the light of the fire, and looking at him with attention, said, This man was with him.
57 Ref But he said, Woman, it is not true; I have no knowledge of him.
58 Ref And after a little time, another saw him and said, You are one of them; and he said, Man, I am not.
59 Ref And after about an hour, another man said, with decision, Certainly this man was with him, for he is a Galilaean.
60 Ref And Peter said, Man, I have no knowledge of these things of which you are talking. And straight away, while he was saying these words, there came the cry of a cock.
61 Ref And the Lord, turning, gave Peter a look. And the words of the Lord came to Peter's mind, how he had said, This night, before the hour of the cock's cry, you will be false to me three times.
62 Ref And he went out, weeping bitterly.
63 Ref And the men in whose hands Jesus was, made sport of him and gave him blows.
64 Ref And, covering his eyes, they said to him, Are you prophet enough to say who gave you that blow?
65 Ref And they said a number of other evil things against him.
66 Ref And when it was day, the rulers of the people came together, with the chief priests and the scribes, and they took him before their Sanhedrin, saying,
67 Ref If you are the Christ, say so. But he said, If I say so you will not have belief;
68 Ref And if I put a question to you, you will not give an answer.
69 Ref But in the future the Son of man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.
70 Ref And they all said, Are you then the Son of God? and he said, You say that I am.
71 Ref And they said, What more need have we of witness? we have the very words of his mouth.

5 Ref And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
6 Ref And he consented, and sought opportunity to deliver him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
7 Ref And the day of unleavened bread came, on which the passover must be sacrificed.
8 Ref And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and make ready for us the passover, that we may eat.
9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we make ready?
10 Ref And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house whereinto he goeth.
11 Ref And ye shall say unto the master of the house, The Teacher saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
12 Ref And he will show you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
13 Ref And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
14 Ref And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the apostles with him.
15 Ref And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 Ref for I say unto you, I shall not eat it, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 Ref And he received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 Ref for I say unto you, I shall not drink from henceforth of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19 Ref And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Ref And the cup in like manner after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, `even' that which is poured out for you.
21 Ref But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
22 Ref For the Son of man indeed goeth, as it hath been determined: but woe unto that man through whom he is betrayed!
23 Ref And they began to question among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
24 Ref And there arose also a contention among them, which of them was accounted to be greatest.
25 Ref And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles have lordship over them; and they that have authority over them are called Benefactors.
26 Ref But ye `shall' not `be' so: but he that is the greater among you, let him become as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
27 Ref For which is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am in the midst of you as he that serveth.
28 Ref But ye are they that have continued with me in my temptations;
29 Ref and I appoint unto you a kingdom, even as my Father appointed unto me,
30 Ref that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and ye shall sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 Ref Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat:
32 Ref but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith fail not; and do thou, when once thou hast turned again, establish thy brethren.
33 Ref And he said unto him, Lord, with thee I am ready to go both to prison and to death.
34 Ref And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, until thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
35 Ref And he said unto them, When I sent you forth without purse, and wallet, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing.
36 And he said unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet; and he that hath none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.
37 Ref For I say unto you, that this which is written must be fulfilled in me, And he was reckoned with transgressors: for that which concerneth me hath fulfilment.
38 Ref And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
39 Ref And he came out, and went, as his custom was, unto the mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed him.
40 Ref And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
41 Ref And he was parted from them about a stone's cast; and he kneeled down and prayed,
42 Ref saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
43 Ref And there appeared unto him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.
44 Ref And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became as it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.
45 Ref And when he rose up from his prayer, he came unto the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow,
46 Ref and said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.
47 Ref While he yet spake, behold, a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them; and he drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.
48 Ref But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
49 Ref And when they that were about him saw what would follow, they said, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
50 Ref And a certain one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his right ear.
51 Ref But Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye `them' thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
52 Ref And Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and elders, that were come against him, Are ye come out, as against a robber, with swords and staves?
53 Ref When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched not forth your hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
54 Ref And they seized him, and led him `away', and brought him into the high priest's house. But Peter followed afar off.
55 Ref And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat in the midst of them.
56 Ref And a certain maid seeing him as he sat in the light `of the fire', and looking stedfastly upon him, said, This man also was with him.
57 Ref But he denied, saying, Woman, I know him not.
58 Ref And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou also art `one' of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.
59 Ref And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this man also was with him; for he is a Galilaean.
60 Ref But Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.
61 Ref And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said unto him, Before the cock crow this day thou shalt deny me thrice.
62 Ref And he went out, and wept bitterly.
63 Ref And the men that held `Jesus' mocked him, and beat him.
64 Ref And they blindfolded him, and asked him, saying, Prophesy: who is he that struck thee?
65 Ref And many other things spake they against him, reviling him.
66 Ref And as soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes; and they led him away into their council, saying,
67 Ref If thou art the Christ, tell us. But he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
68 Ref and if I ask `you', ye will not answer.
69 Ref But from henceforth shall the Son of man be seated at the right hand of the power of God.
70 Ref And they all said, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.
71 Ref And they said, What further need have we of witness? for we ourselves have heard from his own mouth.
