Jonah 2

1 Ref Then Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God, out of the fish's belly.
2 Ref He said, "I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice.
3 Ref For you threw me into the depths, In the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.
4 Ref I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; Yet I will look again toward your holy temple.'
5 Ref The waters surrounded me, Even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.
6 Ref I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever: Yet have you brought up my life from the pit, Yahweh my God.
7 Ref "When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Yahweh. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.
8 Ref Those who regard lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 Ref But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh."
10 Ref Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.

1 Ref Then Jonah prayed unto Jehovah his God out of the fish's belly.
2 Ref And he said, I called by reason of mine affliction unto Jehovah, And he answered me; Out of the belly of Sheol cried I, `And' thou heardest my voice.
3 Ref For thou didst cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, And the flood was round about me; All thy waves and thy billows passed over me.
4 Ref And I said, I am cast out from before thine eyes; Yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
5 Ref The waters compassed me about, even to the soul; The deep was round about me; The weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 Ref I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; The earth with its bars `closed' upon me for ever: Yet hast thou brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.
7 Ref When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah; And my prayer came in unto thee, into thy holy temple.

1 Ref And the Lord made ready a great fish to take Jonah into its mouth; and Jonah was inside the fish for three days and three nights.
2 Ref Then Jonah made prayer to the Lord his God from the inside of the fish, and said,
3 Ref In my trouble I was crying to the Lord, and he gave me an answer; out of the deepest underworld I sent up a cry, and you gave ear to my voice.
4 Ref For you have put me down into the deep, into the heart of the sea; and the river was round about me; all your waves and your rolling waters went over me.
5 Ref And I said, I have been sent away from before your eyes; how may I ever again see your holy Temple?
6 Ref The waters were circling round me, even to the neck; the deep was about me; the sea-grass was twisted round my head.
7 Ref I went down to the bases of the mountains; as for the earth, her walls were about me for ever: but you have taken up my life from the underworld, O Lord my God.
8 Ref When my soul in me was overcome, I kept the memory of the Lord: and my prayer came in to you, into your holy Temple.
9 Ref The worshippers of false gods have given up their only hope.
10 Ref But I will make an offering to you with the voice of praise; I will give effect to my oaths. Salvation is the Lord's.
11 And at the Lord's order, the fish sent Jonah out of its mouth on to the dry land.
