1 Corinthians 12

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Ref And concerning the spiritual things, brethren, I do not wish you to be ignorant;

2 Ref ye have known that ye were nations, unto the dumb idols -- as ye were led -- being carried away;

3 Ref wherefore, I give you to understand that no one, in the Spirit of God speaking, saith Jesus `is' anathema, and no one is able to say Jesus `is' Lord, except in the Holy Spirit.

4 Ref And there are diversities of gifts, and the same Spirit;

5 Ref and there are diversities of ministrations, and the same Lord;

6 Ref and there are diversities of workings, and it is the same God -- who is working the all in all.

7 Ref And to each hath been given the manifestation of the Spirit for profit;

8 Ref for to one through the Spirit hath been given a word of wisdom, and to another a word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;

9 Ref and to another faith in the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healings in the same Spirit;

10 Ref and to another in-workings of mighty deeds; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits; and to another `divers' kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues:

11 Ref and all these doth work the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each severally as he intendeth.

12 Ref For, even as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the one body, being many, are one body, so also `is' the Christ,

13 Ref for also in one Spirit we all to one body were baptized, whether Jews or Greeks, whether servants or freemen, and all into one Spirit were made to drink,

14 Ref for also the body is not one member, but many;

15 Ref if the foot may say, `Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body;' it is not, because of this, not of the body;

16 Ref and if the ear may say, `Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body;' it is not, because of this, not of the body?

17 Ref If the whole body `were' an eye, where the hearing? if the whole hearing, where the smelling?

18 Ref and now, God did set the members each one of them in the body, according as He willed,

19 and if all were one member, where the body?

20 Ref and now, indeed, `are' many members, and one body;

21 Ref and an eye is not able to say to the hand, `I have no need of thee;' nor again the head to the feet, `I have no need of you.'

22 Ref But much more the members of the body which seem to be more infirm are necessary,

23 Ref and those that we think to be less honourable of the body, around these we put more abundant honour, and our unseemly things have seemliness more abundant,

24 Ref and our seemly things have no need; but God did temper the body together, to the lacking part having given more abundant honour,

25 Ref that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same anxiety for one another,

26 Ref and whether one member doth suffer, suffer with `it' do all the members, or one member is glorified, rejoice with `it' do all the members;

27 Ref and ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

28 Ref And some, indeed, did God set in the assembly, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, afterwards powers, afterwards gifts of healings, helpings, governings, divers kinds of tongues;

29 Ref `are' all apostles? `are' all prophets? `are' all teachers? `are' all powers?

30 Ref have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

31 Ref and desire earnestly the better gifts; and yet a far excelling way do I shew to you:

1 Ref Now concerning spiritual `gifts', brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

2 Ref Ye know that when ye were Gentiles `ye were' led away unto those dumb idols, howsoever ye might led.

3 Ref Wherefore I make known unto you, that no man speaking in the Spirit of God saith, Jesus is anathema; and no man can say, Jesus is Lord, but in the Holy Spirit.

4 Ref Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 Ref And there are diversities of ministrations, and the same Lord.

6 Ref And there are diversities of workings, but the same God, who worketh all things in all.

7 Ref But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit to profit withal.

8 Ref For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit:

9 Ref to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the one Spirit;

10 Ref and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits; to another `divers' kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues:

11 Ref but all these worketh the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each one severally even as he will.

12 Ref For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.

13 Ref For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit.

14 Ref For the body is not one member, but many.

15 Ref If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; it is not therefore not of the body.

16 Ref And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; it is not therefore not of the body.

17 Ref If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 Ref But now hath God set the members each one of them in the body, even as it pleased him.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20 Ref But now they are many members, but one body.

21 Ref And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee: or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

22 Ref Nay, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be more feeble are necessary:

23 Ref and those `parts' of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely `parts' have more abundant comeliness;

24 Ref whereas our comely `parts' have no need: but God tempered the body together, giving more abundant honor to that `part' which lacked;

25 Ref that there should be no schism in the body; but `that' the members should have the same care one for another.

26 Ref And whether one member suffereth, all the members suffer with it; or `one' member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Ref Now ye are the body of Christ, and severally members thereof.

28 Ref And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, `divers' kinds of tongues.

29 Ref Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all `workers of' miracles?

30 Ref have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

31 Ref But desire earnestly the greater gifts. And moreover a most excellent way show I unto you.

1 Ref Now concerning spiritual things, brothers, I don't want you to be ignorant.

2 Ref You know that when you were heathen{or Gentiles}, you were led away to those mute idols, however you might be led.

3 Ref Therefore I make known to you that no man speaking by God's Spirit says, "Jesus is accursed." No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," but by the Holy Spirit.

4 Ref Now there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 Ref There are various kinds of service, and the same Lord.

6 Ref There are various kinds of workings, but the same God, who works all things in all.

7 Ref But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all.

8 Ref For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;

9 Ref to another faith, by the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, by the same Spirit;

10 Ref and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; to another different kinds of languages; and to another the interpretation of languages.

11 Ref But the one and the same Spirit works all of these, distributing to each one separately as he desires.

12 Ref For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.

13 Ref For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all given to drink into one Spirit.

14 Ref For the body is not one member, but many.

15 Ref If the foot would say, "Because I'm not the hand, I'm not part of the body," it is not therefore not part of the body.

16 Ref If the ear would say, "Because I'm not the eye, I'm not part of the body," it's not therefore not part of the body.

17 Ref If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the smelling be?

18 Ref But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired.

19 If they were all one member, where would the body be?

20 Ref But now they are many members, but one body.

21 Ref The eye can't tell the hand, "I have no need for you," or again the head to the feet, "I have no need for you."

22 Ref No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.

23 Ref Those parts of the body which we think to be less honorable, on those we bestow more abundant honor; and our unpresentable parts have more abundant propriety;

24 Ref whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God composed the body together, giving more abundant honor to the inferior part,

25 Ref that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.

26 Ref When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. Or when one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Ref Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

28 Ref God has set some in the assembly: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various kinds of languages.

29 Ref Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all miracle workers?

30 Ref Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with various languages? Do all interpret?

31 Ref But earnestly desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to you.
