^{1 Ref} And it cometh to pass after this, that David smiteth the Philistines, and humbleth them, and taketh Gath and its small towns out of the hand of the Philistines;

^{2 Ref} and he smiteth Moab, and the Moabites are servants to David, bringing a present.

^{3 Ref} And David smiteth Hadarezer king of Zobah, at Hamath, in his going to establish his power by the river Phrat,

^{4 Ref} and David captureth from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and David destroyeth utterly all the chariots, and leaveth of them a hundred chariots `only'.

^{5 Ref} And Aram of Damascus cometh in to give help to Hadarezer king of Zobah, and David smiteth in Aram twenty and two thousand men,

^{6 Ref} and David putteth `garrisons' in Aram of Damascus, and the Aramaeans are to David for servants, bearing a present, and Jehovah giveth salvation to David whithersoever he hath gone.

^{7 Ref} And David taketh the shields of gold that have been on the servants of Hadarezer, and bringeth them in to Jerusalem;

^{8 Ref} and from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, hath David taken very much brass; with it hath Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

^{9 Ref} And Tou king of Hamath heareth that David hath smitten the whole force of Hadarezer king of Zobah,

^{10 Ref} and he sendeth Hadoram his son unto king David, to ask of him of peace, and to bless him (because that he hath fought against Hadarezer, and smiteth him, for a man of wars with Tou had Hadarezer been,) and all kinds of vessels, of gold, and silver, and brass;

^{11 Ref} also them hath king David sanctified to Jehovah with the silver and the gold that he hath taken from all the nations, from Edom, and from Moab, and from the sons of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

^{12 Ref} And Abishai son of Zeruiah hath smitten Edom in the valley of salt -- eighteen thousand,

^{13 Ref} and he putteth in Edom garrisons, and all the Edomites are servants to David; and Jehovah saveth David whithersoever he hath gone.

^{14 Ref} And David reigneth over all Israel, and he is doing judgment and righteousness to all his people,

^{15 Ref} and Joab son of Zeruiah `is' over the host, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud `is' remembrancer,

^{16 Ref} and Zadok son of Ahitub, and Abimelech son of Abiathar, `are' priests, and Shavsha `is' scribe,

^{17 Ref} and Benaiah son of Jehoiada `is' over the Cherethite and the Pelethite, and the elder sons of David `are' at the hand of the king.

^{1 Ref} Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.

^{2 Ref} And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

^{3 Ref} And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

^{4 Ref} And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.

^{5 Ref} And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

^{6 Ref} Then David put garrisons in Syriadamascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

^{7 Ref} And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

^{8 Ref} Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

^{9 Ref} Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;

^{10 Ref} He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

^{11 Ref} Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

^{12 Ref} Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.

^{13 Ref} And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

^{14 Ref} So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.

^{15 Ref} And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.

^{16 Ref} And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

^{17 Ref} And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.

^{1 Ref} And it came about after this that David made an attack on the Philistines and overcame them, and took Gath with its daughter-towns out of the hands of the Philistines.

^{2 Ref} And he overcame Moab, and the Moabites became his servants and gave him offerings.

^{3 Ref} Then David overcame Hadadezer, king of Zobah, near Hamath, when he was going to make his power seen by the river Euphrates.

^{4 Ref} And David took from him a thousand war-carriages and seven thousand horsemen and twenty thousand footmen: and he had the leg-muscles of all the horses cut, keeping only enough of them for a hundred war-carriages.

^{5 Ref} And when the Aramaeans of Damascus came to the help of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David put to the sword twenty-two thousand Aramaeans.

^{6 Ref} Then David put armed forces in Damascus, and the Aramaeans became his servants and gave him offerings. And the Lord made David overcome wherever he went.

^{7 Ref} And the gold body-covers of the servants of Hadadezer, David took to Jerusalem.

^{8 Ref} And from Tibhath and from Cun, towns of Hadadezer, David took a great store of brass, of which Solomon made the great brass water-vessel and the brass pillars and vessels.

^{9 Ref} Now when Tou, king of Hamath, had news that David had overcome all the army of Hadadezer, king of Zobah,

^{10 Ref} He sent his son Hadoram to King David, to give him words of peace and blessing, because he had overcome Hadadezer in the fight, for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou; and he gave him all sorts of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

^{11 Ref} These King David made holy to the Lord, together with the silver and gold he had taken from all nations; from Edom and Moab and from the children of Ammon and from the Philistines and from Amalek.

^{12 Ref} And when he came back from putting to the sword eighteen thousand of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt,

^{13 Ref} David put armed forces in all the towns of Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. The Lord made David overcome wherever he went.

^{14 Ref} So David was king over all Israel, judging and giving right decisions for all his people.

^{15 Ref} And Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the army; and Jehoshaphat, son of Ahilud, was keeper of the records.

^{16 Ref} And Zadok, the son of Ahitub; and Ahimelech, the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was the scribe;

^{17 Ref} And Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief of those whose places were at the king's side.
