^{1 Ref} And Jehovah doth answer Job, and saith: --

^{2 Ref} Is the striver with the Mighty instructed? The reprover of God, let him answer it.

³ And Job answereth Jehovah, and saith: --

^{4 Ref} Lo, I have been vile, What do I return to Thee? My hand I have placed on my mouth.

^{5 Ref} Once I have spoken, and I answer not, And twice, and I add not.

^{6 Ref} And Jehovah answereth Job out of the whirlwind, and saith: --

^{7 Ref} Gird, I pray thee, as a man, thy loins, I ask thee, and cause thou Me to know.

^{8 Ref} Dost thou also make void My judgment? Dost thou condemn Me, That thou mayest be righteous?

^{9 Ref} And an arm like God hast thou? And with a voice like Him dost thou thunder?

^{10 Ref} Put on, I pray thee, excellency and loftiness, Yea, honour and beauty put on.

^{11 Ref} Scatter abroad the wrath of thine anger, And see every proud one, and make him low.

^{12 Ref} See every proud one -- humble him, And tread down the wicked in their place.

^{13 Ref} Hide them in the dust together, Their faces bind in secret.

^{14 Ref} And even I -- I do praise thee, For thy right hand giveth salvation to thee.

^{15 Ref} Lo, I pray thee, Behemoth, that I made with thee: Grass as an ox he eateth.

¹⁶ Lo, I pray thee, his power `is' in his loins, And his strength in the muscles of his belly.

^{17 Ref} He doth bend his tail as a cedar, The sinews of his thighs are wrapped together,

^{18 Ref} His bones `are' tubes of brass, His bones `are' as a bar of iron.

^{19 Ref} He `is' a beginning of the ways of God, His Maker bringeth nigh his sword;

^{20 Ref} For food do mountains bear for him, And all the beasts of the field play there.

^{21 Ref} Under shades he lieth down, In a secret place of reed and mire.

^{22 Ref} Cover him do shades, `with' their shadow, Cover him do willows of the brook.

^{23 Ref} Lo, a flood oppresseth -- he doth not haste, He is confident though Jordan Doth come forth unto his mouth.

^{24 Ref} Before his eyes doth `one' take him, With snares doth `one' pierce the nose?

^{1 Ref} Moreover Yahweh answered Job,

^{2 Ref} "Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it."

³ Then Job answered Yahweh,

^{4 Ref} "Behold, I am of small account. What shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.

^{5 Ref} I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further."

^{6 Ref} Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind,

^{7 Ref} "Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you, and you will answer me.

^{8 Ref} Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?

^{9 Ref} Or have you an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him?

^{10 Ref} "Now deck yourself with excellency and dignity. Array yourself with honor and majesty.

^{11 Ref} Pour forth the fury of your anger. Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low.

^{12 Ref} Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.

^{13 Ref} Hide them in the dust together. Bind their faces in the hidden place.

^{14 Ref} Then I will also admit to you That your own right hand can save you.

^{15 Ref} "See now, behemoth, which I made as well as you. He eats grass as an ox.

¹⁶ Look now, his strength is in his loins, His force is in the muscles of his belly.

^{17 Ref} He moves his tail like a cedar: The sinews of his thighs are knit together.

^{18 Ref} His bones are like tubes of brass. His limbs are like bars of iron.

^{19 Ref} He is the chief of the ways of God. He who made him gives him his sword.

^{20 Ref} Surely the mountains bring him forth food, Where all the animals of the field do play.

^{21 Ref} He lies under the lotus trees, In the covert of the reed, and the marsh.

^{22 Ref} The lotuses cover him with their shade. The willows of the brook surround him.

^{23 Ref} Behold, if a river overflows, he doesn't tremble. He is confident, though the Jordan swells even to his mouth.

^{24 Ref} Shall any take him when he is on the watch, Or pierce through his nose with a snare?

^{1 Ref} Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

^{2 Ref} Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

^{10 Ref} Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

^{11 Ref} Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

^{12 Ref} Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

^{13 Ref} Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

^{14 Ref} Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

^{15 Ref} Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

^{17 Ref} He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

^{18 Ref} His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

^{19 Ref} He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

^{20 Ref} Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

^{21 Ref} He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

^{22 Ref} The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

^{23 Ref} Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

^{24 Ref} He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
