Romans 12

American Standard-ASV1901 (ASV)

1 Ref I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, `which is' your spiritual service.

2 Ref And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

3 Ref For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think as to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to each man a measure of faith.

4 Ref For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members have not the same office:

5 Ref so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and severally members one of another.

6 Ref And having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, `let us prophesy' according to the proportion of our faith;

7 Ref or ministry, `let us give ourselves' to our ministry; or he that teacheth, to his teaching;

8 Ref or he that exhorteth, to his exhorting: he that giveth, `let him do it' with liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.

9 Ref Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

10 Ref In love of the brethren be tenderly affectioned one to another; in honor preferring one another;

11 Ref in diligence not slothful; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

12 Ref rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing stedfastly in prayer;

13 Ref communicating to the necessities of the saints; given to hospitality.

14 Ref Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not.

15 Ref Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep.

16 Ref Be of the same mind one toward another. Set not your mind on high things, but condescend to things that are lowly. Be not wise in your own conceits.

17 Ref Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men.

18 Ref If it be possible, as much as in you lieth, be at peace with all men.

19 Ref Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath `of God': for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord.

20 Ref But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head.

21 Ref Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Bible in Basic English (BBE)

1 Ref For this reason I make request to you, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you will give your bodies as a living offering, holy, pleasing to God, which is the worship it is right for you to give him.

2 Ref And let not your behaviour be like that of this world, but be changed and made new in mind, so that by experience you may have knowledge of the good and pleasing and complete purpose of God.

3 Ref But I say to every one of you, through the grace given to me, not to have an over-high opinion of himself, but to have wise thoughts, as God has given to every one a measure of faith.

4 Ref For, as we have a number of parts in one body, but all the parts have not the same use,

5 Ref So we, though we are a number of persons, are one body in Christ, and are dependent on one another;

6 Ref And having different qualities by reason of the grace given to us, such as the quality of a prophet, let it be made use of in relation to the measure of our faith;

7 Ref Or the position of a Deacon of the church, let a man give himself to it; or he who has the power of teaching, let him make use of it;

8 Ref He who has the power of comforting, let him do so; he who gives, let him give freely; he who has the power of ruling, let him do it with a serious mind; he who has mercy on others, let it be with joy.

9 Ref Let love be without deceit. Be haters of what is evil; keep your minds fixed on what is good.

10 Ref Be kind to one another with a brother's love, putting others before yourselves in honour;

11 Ref Be not slow in your work, but be quick in spirit, as the Lord's servants;

12 Ref Being glad in hope, quiet in trouble, at all times given to prayer,

13 Ref Giving to the needs of the saints, ready to take people into your houses.

14 Ref Give blessing and not curses to those who are cruel to you.

15 Ref Take part in the joy of those who are glad, and in the grief of those who are sorrowing.

16 Ref Be in harmony with one another. Do not have a high opinion of yourselves, but be in agreement with common people. Do not give yourselves an air of wisdom.

17 Ref Do not give evil for evil to any man. Let all your business be well ordered in the eyes of all men.

18 Ref As far as it is possible for you be at peace with all men.

19 Ref Do not give punishment for wrongs done to you, dear brothers, but give way to the wrath of God; for it is said in the holy Writings, Punishment is mine, I will give reward, says the Lord.

20 Ref But if one who has hate for you is in need of food or of drink, give it to him, for in so doing you will put coals of fire on his head.

21 Ref Do not let evil overcome you, but overcome evil by good.
