35 Ref And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, The place is desert, and the day is now far spent;

36 Ref send them away, that they may go into the country and villages round about, and buy themselves somewhat to eat.

37 Ref But he answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred shillings' worth of bread, and give them to eat?

38 Ref And he saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go `and' see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.

39 Ref And he commanded them that all should sit down by companies upon the green grass.

40 Ref And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.

41 Ref And he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake the loaves; and he gave to the disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.

42 Ref And they all ate, and were filled.

43 Ref And they took up broken pieces, twelve basketfuls, and also of the fishes.

44 And they that ate the loaves were five thousand men.

45 Ref And straightway he constrained his disciples to enter into the boat, and to go before `him' unto the other side to Bethsaida, while he himself sendeth the multitude away.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

35 Ref And now the hour being advanced, his disciples having come near to him, say, -- `The place is desolate, and the hour is now advanced,

36 Ref let them away, that, having gone away to the surrounding fields and villages, they may buy to themselves loaves, for what they may eat they have not.'

37 Ref And he answering said to them, `Give ye them to eat,' and they say to him, `Having gone away, may we buy two hundred denaries' worth of loaves, and give to them to eat?'

38 Ref And he saith to them, `How many loaves have ye? go and see;' and having known, they say, `Five, and two fishes.'

39 Ref And he commanded them to make all recline in companies upon the green grass,

40 Ref and they sat down in squares, by hundreds, and by fifties.

41 Ref And having taken the five loaves and the two fishes, having looked up to the heaven, he blessed, and brake the loaves, and was giving to his disciples, that they may set before them, and the two fishes divided he to all,

42 Ref and they did all eat, and were filled,

43 Ref and they took up of broken pieces twelve hand-baskets full, and of the fishes,

44 and those eating of the loaves were about five thousand men.

45 Ref And immediately he constrained his disciples to go into the boat, and to go before to the other side, unto Bethsaida, till he may let the multitude away,

35 Ref And at the end of the day, his disciples came to him and said, This place is waste land, and it is late:

36 Ref Send them away, so that they may go into the country and small towns round about, and get some food for themselves.

37 Ref But he said to them in answer, Give them food yourselves. And they said to him, Are we to go and get bread for two hundred pence, and give it to them?

38 Ref And he said to them, How much bread have you? go and see. And when they had seen, they said, Five cakes of bread and two fishes.

39 Ref And he made them all be seated in groups on the green grass.

40 Ref And they were placed in groups, by hundreds and by fifties.

41 Ref And he took the five cakes of bread and the two fishes and, looking up to heaven, he said words of blessing over them; and when the cakes were broken, he gave them to the disciples to put before the people; and he made division of the two fishes among them all.

42 Ref And they all took of the food and had enough.

43 Ref And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken bits and of the fishes.

44 And those who took of the bread were five thousand men.

45 Ref And straight away he made his disciples get into the boat, and go before him to the other side to Beth-saida, while he himself sent the people away.
