^{1 Ref} In Jehovah do I take refuge: How say ye to my soul, Flee `as' a bird to your mountain;

^{2 Ref} For, lo, the wicked bend the bow, They make ready their arrow upon the string, That they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart;

^{3 Ref} If the foundations be destroyed, What can the righteous do?

^{4 Ref} Jehovah is in his holy temple; Jehovah, his throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

^{5 Ref} Jehovah trieth the righteous; But the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

^{6 Ref} Upon the wicked he will rain snares; Fire and brimstone and burning wind shall be the portion of their cup.

^{6 Ref} He poureth on the wicked snares, fire, and brimstone, And a horrible wind `is' the portion of their cup.

^{7 Ref} For righteous `is' Jehovah, Righteousness He hath loved, The upright doth His countenance see!'

^{5 Ref} Yahweh examines the righteous, But the wicked and him who loves violence his soul hates.

^{6 Ref} On the wicked he will rain blazing coals; Fire, sulfur, and scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.

^{7 Ref} For Yahweh is righteous. He loves righteousness. The upright shall see his face.
