Proverbs 14

1 Ref Every wise woman builds her house, But the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.

2 Ref He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, But he who is perverse in his ways despises him.

3 Ref The fool's talk brings a rod to his back, But the lips of the wise protect them.

4 Ref Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, But much increase is by the strength of the ox.

5 Ref A truthful witness will not lie, But a false witness pours out lies.

6 Ref A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn't find it, But knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.

7 Ref Stay away from a foolish man, For you won't find knowledge on his lips.

8 Ref The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, But the folly of fools is deceit.

9 Ref Fools mock at making atonement for sins, But among the upright there is good will.

10 Ref The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; He will not share these with a stranger.

11 Ref The house of the wicked will be overthrown, But the tent of the upright will flourish.

12 Ref There is a way which seems right to a man, But in the end it leads to death.

13 Ref Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, And mirth may end in heaviness.

14 Ref The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; Likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.

15 Ref A simple man believes everything, But the prudent man carefully considers his ways.

16 Ref A wise man fears, and shuns evil, But the fool is hotheaded and reckless.

17 Ref He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, And a crafty man is hated.

18 Ref The simple inherit folly, But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

19 Ref The evil bow down before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20 Ref The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, But the rich person has many friends.

21 Ref He who despises his neighbor sins, But blessed is he who has pity on the poor.

22 Ref Don't they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.

23 Ref In all hard work there is profit, But the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.

24 Ref The crown of the wise is their riches, But the folly of fools crowns them with folly.

25 Ref A truthful witness saves souls, But a false witness is deceitful.

26 Ref In the fear of Yahweh is a secure fortress, And he will be a refuge for his children.

27 Ref The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, Turning people from the snares of death.

28 Ref In the multitude of people is the king's glory, But in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.

29 Ref He who is slow to anger has great understanding, But he who has a quick temper displays folly.

30 Ref The life of the body is a heart at peace, But envy rots the bones.

31 Ref He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, But he who is kind to the needy honors him.

32 Ref The wicked is brought down in his calamity, But in death, the righteous has a refuge.

33 Ref Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, And is even made known in the inward part of fools.

34 Ref Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people.

35 Ref The king's favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, But his wrath is toward one who causes shame.

1 Ref Every wise woman hath builded her house, And the foolish with her hands breaketh it down.

2 Ref Whoso is walking in his uprightness is fearing Jehovah, And the perverted `in' his ways is despising Him.

3 Ref In the mouth of a fool `is' a rod of pride, And the lips of the wise preserve them.

4 Ref Without oxen a stall `is' clean, And great `is' the increase by the power of the ox.

5 Ref A faithful witness lieth not, And a false witness breatheth out lies.

6 Ref A scorner hath sought wisdom, and it is not, And knowledge to the intelligent `is' easy.

7 Ref Go from before a foolish man, Or thou hast not known the lips of knowledge.

8 Ref The wisdom of the prudent `is' to understand his way, And the folly of fools `is' deceit.

9 Ref Fools mock at a guilt-offering, And among the upright -- a pleasing thing.

10 Ref The heart knoweth its own bitterness, And with its joy a stranger doth not intermeddle.

11 Ref The house of the wicked is destroyed, And the tent of the upright flourisheth.

12 Ref There is a way -- right before a man, And its latter end `are' ways of death.

13 Ref Even in laughter is the heart pained, And the latter end of joy `is' affliction.

14 Ref From his ways is the backslider in heart filled, And a good man -- from his fruits.

15 Ref The simple giveth credence to everything, And the prudent attendeth to his step.

16 Ref The wise is fearing and turning from evil, And a fool is transgressing and is confident.

17 Ref Whoso is short of temper doth folly, And a man of wicked devices is hated.

18 Ref The simple have inherited folly, And the prudent are crowned `with' knowledge.

19 Ref The evil have bowed down before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20 Ref Even of his neighbour is the poor hated, And those loving the rich `are' many.

21 Ref Whoso is despising his neighbour sinneth, Whoso is favouring the humble, O his happiness.

22 Ref Do not they err who are devising evil? And kindness and truth `are' to those devising good,

23 Ref In all labour there is advantage, And a thing of the lips `is' only to want.

24 Ref The crown of the wise is their wealth, The folly of fools `is' folly.

25 Ref A true witness is delivering souls, And a deceitful one breatheth out lies.

26 Ref In the fear of Jehovah `is' strong confidence, And to His sons there is a refuge.

27 Ref The fear of Jehovah `is' a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.

28 Ref In the multitude of a people `is' the honour of a king, And in lack of people the ruin of a prince.

29 Ref Whoso is slow to anger `is' of great understanding, And whoso is short in temper is exalting folly.

30 Ref A healed heart `is' life to the flesh, And rottenness to the bones `is' envy.

31 Ref An oppressor of the poor reproacheth his Maker, And whoso is honouring Him Is favouring the needy.

32 Ref In his wickedness is the wicked driven away, And trustful in his death `is' the righteous.

33 Ref In the heart of the intelligent wisdom doth rest. And in the midst of fools it is known.

34 Ref Righteousness exalteth a nation, And the goodliness of peoples `is' a sin-offering.

35 Ref The favour of a king `is' to a wise servant, And an object of his wrath is one causing shame!

22 Ref Do they not err that devise evil? But mercy and truth `shall be to' them that devise good.

23 Ref In all labor there is profit; But the talk of the lips `tendeth' only to penury.

24 Ref The crown of the wise is their riches; `But' the folly of fools is `only' folly.

25 Ref A true witness delivereth souls; But he that uttereth lies `causeth' deceit.

26 Ref In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence; And his children shall have a place of refuge.

27 Ref The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, That one may depart from the snares of death.

28 Ref In the multitude of people is the king's glory; But in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

29 Ref He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

30 Ref A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; But envy is the rottenness of the bones.

31 Ref He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; But he that hath mercy on the needy honoreth him.

32 Ref The wicked is thrust down in his evil-doing; But the righteous hath a refuge in his death.

33 Ref Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding; But `that which is' in the inward part of fools is made known.

34 Ref Righteousness exalteth a nation; But sin is a reproach to any people.

35 Ref The king's favor is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; But his wrath will be `against' him that causeth shame.
