Leviticus 14

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

2 Ref `This is a law of the leper, in the day of his cleansing, that he hath been brought in unto the priest,

3 Ref and the priest hath gone out unto the outside of the camp, and the priest hath seen, and lo, the plague of leprosy hath ceased from the leper,

4 Ref and the priest hath commanded, and he hath taken for him who is to be cleansed, two clean living birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop.

5 Ref `And the priest hath commanded, and he hath slaughtered the one bird upon an earthen vessel, over running water;

6 Ref `as to' the living bird, he taketh it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and hath dipped them and the living bird in the blood of the slaughtered bird, over the running water,

7 Ref and he hath sprinkled on him who is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and hath pronounced him clean, and hath sent out the living bird on the face of the field.

8 Ref `And he who is to be cleansed hath washed his garments, and hath shaved all his hair, and hath bathed with water, and hath been clean, and afterwards he doth come in unto the camp, and hath dwelt at the outside of his tent seven days.

9 Ref `And it hath been, on the seventh day -- he shaveth all his hair, his head, and his beard, and his eyebrows, even all his hair he doth shave, and he hath washed his garments, and hath bathed his flesh with water, and hath been clean.

10 Ref `And on the eighth day he taketh two lambs, perfect ones, and one ewe-lamb, daughter of a year, a perfect one, and three tenth deals of flour `for' a present, mixed with oil, and one log of oil.

11 Ref `And the priest who is cleansing hath caused the man who is to be cleansed to stand with them before Jehovah, at the opening of the tent of meeting,

12 Ref and the priest hath taken the one he-lamb, and hath brought it near for a guilt-offering, also the log of oil, and hath waved them -- a wave offering before Jehovah.

13 Ref `And he hath slaughtered the lamb in the place where he slaughtereth the sin-offering and the burnt-offering, in the holy place; for like the sin-offering the guilt-offering is to the priest; it `is' most holy.

14 Ref `And the priest hath taken of the blood of the guilt-offering, and the priest hath put on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot;

15 Ref and the priest hath taken of the log of oil, and hath poured on the left palm of the priest,

16 Ref and the priest hath dipped his right finger in the oil which `is' on his left palm, and hath sprinkled of the oil with his finger seven times before Jehovah.

17 Ref `And of the residue of the oil which `is' on his palm, the priest putteth on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot, on the blood of the guilt-offering;

18 Ref and the remnant of the oil which `is' on the palm of the priest, he putteth on the head of him who is to be cleansed, and the priest hath made atonement for him before Jehovah.

19 Ref `And the priest hath made the sin-offering, and hath made atonement for him who is to be cleansed from his uncleanness, and afterwards he doth slaughter the burnt-offering;

20 Ref and the priest hath caused the burnt-offering to ascend, also the present, on the altar, and the priest hath made atonement for him, and he hath been clean.

21 Ref `And if he `is' poor, and his hand is not reaching `these things', then he hath taken one lamb -- a guilt-offering, for a wave-offering, to make atonement for him, and one-tenth deal of flour mixed with oil for a present, and a log of oil,

22 Ref and two turtle-doves, or two young pigeons, which his hand reacheth to, and one hath been a sin-offering, and the one a burnt-offering;

23 Ref and he hath brought them in on the eighth day for his cleansing unto the priest, unto the opening of the tent of meeting, before Jehovah.

24 Ref `And the priest hath taken the lamb of the guilt-offering, and the log of oil, and the priest hath waved them -- a wave-offering before Jehovah;

25 Ref and he hath slaughtered the lamb of the guilt-offering, and the priest hath taken of the blood of the guilt-offering, and hath put on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot;

26 and the priest doth pour of the oil on the left palm of the priest;

27 and the priest hath sprinkled with his right finger of the oil which `is' on his left palm, seven times before Jehovah.

28 `And the priest hath put of the oil which `is' on his palm, on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot, on the place of the blood of the guilt-offering;

29 Ref and the remnant of the oil which `is' on the palm of the priest he doth put on the head of him who is to be cleansed, to make atonement for him, before Jehovah.

30 Ref `And he hath made the one of the turtle-doves, or of the young pigeons (from that which his hand reacheth to,

31 Ref `even' that which his hand reacheth to), the one a sin-offering, and the one a burnt offering, besides the present, and the priest hath made atonement for him who is to be cleansed before Jehovah.

32 Ref This `is' a law of him in whom `is' a plague of leprosy, whose hand reacheth not to his cleansing.'

33 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, and unto Aaron, saying,

34 Ref `When ye come in unto the land of Canaan, which I am giving to you for a possession, and I have put a plague of leprosy in a house `in' the land of your possession;

35 Ref then hath he whose the house `is' come in and declared to the priest, saying, As a plague hath appeared to me in the house;

36 Ref and the priest hath commanded, and they have prepared the house before the priest cometh in to see the plague (that all which `is' in the house be not unclean), and afterwards doth the priest come in to see the house;

37 Ref and he hath seen the plague, and lo, the plague `is' in the walls of the house, hollow strakes, very green or very red, and their appearance `is' lower than the wall,

38 Ref and the priest hath gone out of the house unto the opening of the house, and hath shut up the house seven days.

39 Ref `And the priest hath turned back on the seventh day, and hath seen, and lo, the plague hath spread in the walls of the house,

40 Ref and the priest hath commanded, and they have drawn out the stones in which the plague `is', and have cast them unto the outside of the city, unto an unclean place;

41 Ref and the house he doth cause to be scraped within round about, and they have poured out the clay which they have scraped off, at the outside of the city, at an unclean place;

42 Ref and they have taken other stones, and brought `them' in unto the place of the stones, and other clay he taketh and hath daubed the house.

43 Ref `And if the plague return, and hath broken out in the house, after he hath drawn out the stones, and after the scraping of the house, and after the daubing;

44 Ref then hath the priest come in and seen, and lo, the plague hath spread in the house; it `is' a fretting leprosy in the house; it `is' unclean.

45 Ref `And he hath broken down the house, its stones, and its wood, and all the clay of the house, and he hath brought `them' forth unto the outside of the city, unto an unclean place.

46 Ref `And he who is going in unto the house all the days he hath shut it up, is unclean till the evening;

47 Ref and he who is lying in the house doth wash his garments; and he who is eating in the house doth wash his garments.

48 Ref `And if the priest certainly come in, and hath seen, and lo, the plague hath not spread in the house after the daubing of the house, then hath the priest pronounced the house clean, for the plague hath been healed.

49 Ref `And he hath taken for the cleansing of the house two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop;

50 and he hath slaughtered the one bird upon an earthen vessel, over running water;

51 Ref and he hath taken the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and hath dipped them in the blood of the slaughtered bird, and in the running water, and hath sprinkled upon the house seven times.

52 `And he hath cleansed the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet;

53 Ref and he hath sent away the living bird unto the outside of the city unto the face of the field, and hath made atonement for the house, and it hath been clean.

54 Ref `This `is' the law for every plague of the leprosy and for scall,

55 Ref and for leprosy of a garment, and of a house,

56 Ref and for a rising, and for a scab, and for a bright spot, --

57 Ref to direct in the day of being unclean, and in the day of being clean; this `is' the law of the leprosy.'

World English Bible (WEB)

1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

2 Ref "This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing. He shall be brought to the priest,

3 Ref and the priest shall go forth out of the camp. The priest shall examine him, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy is healed in the leper,

4 Ref then the priest shall command them to take for him who is to be cleansed two living clean birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop.

5 Ref The priest shall command them to kill one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water.

6 Ref As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water.

7 Ref He shall sprinkle on him who is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird go into the open field.

8 Ref "He who is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and bathe himself in water; and he shall be clean. After that he shall come into the camp, but shall dwell outside his tent seven days.

9 Ref It shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave off. He shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his body in water, then he shall be clean.

10 Ref "On the eighth day he shall take two male lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb a year old without blemish, and three tenths of an ephah of fine flour for a meal offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil.

11 Ref The priest who cleanses him shall set the man who is to be cleansed, and those things, before Yahweh, at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

12 Ref "The priest shall take one of the male lambs, and offer him for a trespass offering, with the log of oil, and wave them for a wave offering before Yahweh.

13 Ref He shall kill the male lamb in the place where they kill the sin offering and the burnt offering, in the place of the sanctuary; for as the sin offering is the priest's, so is the trespass offering. It is most holy.

14 Ref The priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and the priest shall put it on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.

15 Ref The priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand.

16 Ref The priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle some of the oil with his finger seven times before Yahweh.

17 Ref The priest shall put some of the rest of the oil that is in his hand on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering.

18 Ref The rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall put on the head of him who is to be cleansed, and the priest shall make atonement for him before Yahweh.

19 Ref "The priest shall offer the sin offering, and make atonement for him who is to be cleansed because of his uncleanness: and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering;

20 Ref and the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the meal offering on the altar. The priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be clean.

21 Ref "If he is poor, and can't afford so much, then he shall take one male lamb for a trespass offering to be waved, to make atonement for him, and one tenth of an ephah of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering, and a log of oil;

22 Ref and two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, such as he is able to afford; and the one shall be a sin offering, and the other a burnt offering.

23 Ref "On the eighth day he shall bring them for his cleansing to the priest, to the door of the Tent of Meeting, before Yahweh.

24 Ref The priest shall take the lamb of the trespass offering, and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before Yahweh.

25 Ref He shall kill the lamb of the trespass offering. The priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering and put it on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.

26 The priest shall pour some of the oil into the palm of his own left hand;

27 and the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger some of the oil that is in his left hand seven times before Yahweh.

28 Then the priest shall put some of the oil that is in his hand on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot, on the place of the blood of the trespass offering.

29 Ref The rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall put on the head of him who is to be cleansed, to make atonement for him before Yahweh.

30 Ref He shall offer one of the turtledoves, or of the young pigeons, such as he is able to afford,

31 Ref even such as he is able to afford, the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, with the meal offering. The priest shall make atonement for him who is to be cleansed before Yahweh."

32 Ref This is the law for him in whom is the plague of leprosy, who is not able to afford the sacrifice for his cleansing.

33 Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

34 Ref "When you have come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put a spreading mildew in a house in the land of your possession,

35 Ref then he who owns the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, 'There seems to me to be some sort of plague in the house.'

36 Ref The priest shall command that they empty the house, before the priest goes in to examine the plague, that all that is in the house not be made unclean: and afterward the priest shall go in to inspect the house.

37 Ref He shall examine the plague; and, behold, if the plague is in the walls of the house with hollow streaks, greenish or reddish, and it appears to be deeper than the wall;

38 Ref then the priest shall go out of the house to the door of the house, and shut up the house seven days.

39 Ref The priest shall come again on the seventh day, and look. If the plague has spread in the walls of the house,

40 Ref then the priest shall command that they take out the stones in which is the plague, and cast them into an unclean place outside of the city:

41 Ref and he shall cause the inside of the house to be scraped round about, and they shall pour out the mortar, that they scraped off, outside of the city into an unclean place.

42 Ref They shall take other stones, and put them in the place of those stones; and he shall take other mortar, and shall plaster the house.

43 Ref "If the plague comes again, and breaks out in the house, after he has taken out the stones, and after he has scraped the house, and after it was plastered;

44 Ref then the priest shall come in and look; and, behold, if the plague has spread in the house, it is a destructive mildew in the house. It is unclean.

45 Ref He shall break down the house, its stones, and its timber, and all the house's mortar. He shall carry them out of the city into an unclean place.

46 Ref "Moreover he who goes into the house while it is shut up shall be unclean until the evening.

47 Ref He who lies down in the house shall wash his clothes; and he who eats in the house shall wash his clothes.

48 Ref "If the priest shall come in, and examine it, and, behold, the plague hasn't spread in the house, after the house was plastered, then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the plague is healed.

49 Ref To cleanse the house he shall take two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop.

50 He shall kill one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water.

51 Ref He shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times.

52 He shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, with the living bird, with the cedar wood, with the hyssop, and with the scarlet;

53 Ref but he shall let the living bird go out of the city into the open field. So shall he make atonement for the house; and it shall be clean."

54 Ref This is the law for any plague of leprosy, and for an itch,

55 Ref and for the destructive mildew of a garment, and for a house,

56 Ref and for a rising, and for a scab, and for a bright spot;

57 Ref to teach when it is unclean, and when it is clean. This is the law of leprosy.

Bible in Basic English (BBE)

1 And the Lord said to Moses,

2 Ref This is the law of the leper on the day when he is made clean: he is to be taken to the priest;

3 Ref And the priest is to go outside the tent-circle; and if, after looking, the priest sees that the mark of the disease has gone from him,

4 Ref Then the priest is to give orders to take, for him who is to be made clean, two living clean birds and some cedar wood and red thread and hyssop.

5 Ref And the priest will give orders for one of the birds to be put to death in a vessel made of earth, over flowing water.

6 Ref And he will take the living bird and the wood and the red thread and the hyssop and put them in the blood of the bird which was put to death over flowing water.

7 Ref And shaking it seven times over the man who is to be made clean, he will say that he is clean and will let the living bird go free into the open country.

8 Ref And he who is to be made clean will have his clothing washed and his hair cut and have a bath, and he will be clean. And after that he will come back to the tent-circle; but he is to keep outside his tent for seven days.

9 Ref And on the seventh day he is to have all the hair cut off his head and his chin and over his eyes--all his hair is to be cut off--and he will have his clothing washed and his body bathed in water and he will be clean.

10 Ref And on the eighth day let him take two male lambs, without any marks on them, and one female lamb of the first year, without a mark, and three tenth parts of an ephah of the best meal, mixed with oil, and one log of oil.

11 Ref And the priest who is making him clean will put the man who is being made clean, together with these things, before the door of the Tent of meeting.

12 Ref And the priest is to take one of the male lambs and give it as an offering for wrongdoing, and the log of oil, waving them for a wave offering before the Lord;

13 Ref And he is to put the male lamb to death in the place where they put to death the sin-offering and the burned offering, in the holy place; for as the sin-offering is the property of the priest, so is the offering for wrongdoing: it is most holy.

14 Ref And let the priest take some of the blood of the offering for wrongdoing and put it on the point of the right ear of him who is to be made clean, and on the thumb of his right hand and on the great toe of his right foot;

15 Ref And take some of the oil and put it in the hollow of his left hand;

16 Ref And let the priest put his right finger in the oil which is in his left hand, shaking it out with his finger seven times before the Lord;

17 Ref And of the rest of the oil which is in his hand, the priest will put some on the point of the right ear of the man who is to be made clean, and on the thumb of his right hand and on the great toe of his right foot, over the blood of the offering for wrongdoing;

18 Ref And the rest of the oil in the priest's hand he will put on the head of him who is to be made clean; and so the priest will make him free from sin before the Lord.

19 Ref And the priest will give the sin-offering, and take away the sin of him who is to be made clean from his unclean condition; and after that he will put the burned offering to death.

20 Ref And the priest is to have the burned offering and the meal offering burned on the altar; and the priest will take away his sin and he will be clean.

21 Ref And if he is poor and not able to get so much, then he may take one male lamb as an offering for wrongdoing, to be waved to take away his sin, and one tenth part of an ephah of the best meal mixed with oil for a meal offering, and a log of oil;

22 Ref And two doves or two young pigeons, such as he is able to get; and one will be for a sin-offering and the other for a burned offering.

23 Ref And on the eighth day he will take them to the priest, to the door of the Tent of meeting before the Lord, so that he may be made clean.

24 Ref And the priest will take the lamb of the offering for wrongdoing and the oil, waving them for a wave offering before the Lord;

25 Ref And he will put to death the lamb of the offering for wrongdoing and the priest will take some of the blood of the offering for wrongdoing and put it on the point of the right ear of him who is to be made clean, and on the thumb of his right hand and on the great toe of his right foot;

26 And the priest will put out some of the oil in the hollow of his left hand,

27 Shaking out drops of oil with his right finger before the Lord seven times:

28 And the priest will put some of the oil which is in his hand on the point of the ear of the man who is to be made clean and on the thumb of his right hand and on the great toe of his right foot, on the place where the blood of the offering for wrongdoing was put;

29 Ref And the rest of the oil which is in the priest's hand he will put on the head of him who is to be made clean, to take away his sin before the Lord.

30 Ref And he will make an offering of one of the doves or the young pigeons, such as he is able to get;

31 Ref And of these, he will give one for a sin-offering and one for a burned offering, with the meal offering; and the priest will take away the sin of him who is to be made clean before the Lord.

32 Ref This is the law for the man who has the disease of the leper on him, and who is not able to get that which is necessary for making himself clean.

33 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

34 Ref When you have come into the land of Canaan which I will give you for your heritage, if I put the leper's disease on a house in the land of your heritage,

35 Ref Then let the owner of the house come and say to the priest, It seems to me that there is a sort of leper's disease in the house.

36 Ref And the priest will give orders for everything to be taken out of the house, before he goes in to see the disease, so that the things in the house may not become unclean; and then the priest is to go in to see the house;

37 Ref And if he sees that the walls of the house are marked with hollows of green and red, and if it seems to go deeper than the face of the wall;

38 Ref Then the priest will go out of the door of the house, and keep the house shut up for seven days:

39 Ref And the priest is to come again on the seventh day and have a look and see if the marks on the walls of the house are increased in size;

40 Ref Then the priest will give orders to them to take out the stones in which the disease is seen, and put them out into an unclean place outside the town:

41 Ref And he will have the house rubbed all over inside, and the paste which is rubbed off will be put out into an unclean place outside the town:

42 Ref And they will take other stones and put them in place of those stones, and he will take other paste and put it on the walls of the house.

43 Ref And if the disease comes out again in the house after he has taken out the stones and after the walls have been rubbed and the new paste put on,

44 Ref Then the priest will come and see it; and if the disease in the house is increased in size, it is the leper's disease working out in the house: it is unclean.

45 Ref And the house will have to be pulled down, the stones of it and the wood and the paste; and everything is to be taken out to an unclean place outside the town.

46 Ref And, in addition, anyone who goes into the house at any time, while it is shut up, will be unclean till evening.

47 Ref And anyone who has been sleeping in the house will have to have his clothing washed; and anyone who takes food in that house will have to have his clothing washed.

48 Ref And if the priest comes in, and sees that the disease is not increased after the new paste has been put on the house, then the priest will say that the house is clean, because the disease is gone.

49 Ref And in order to make the house clean, let him take two birds and cedar-wood and red thread and hyssop;

50 And put one of the birds to death in a vessel of earth over flowing water;

51 Ref And take the cedar-wood and the hyssop and the red thread and the living bird and put them in the blood of the dead bird and in the flowing water, shaking it over the house seven times.

52 And he will make the house clean with the blood of the bird and the flowing water and with the living bird and with the cedar-wood and the hyssop and the red thread.

53 Ref But he will let the living bird go out of the town into the open country; so he will take away sin from the house and it will be clean.

54 Ref This is the law for all signs of the leper's disease and for skin diseases;

55 Ref And for signs of disease in clothing, or in a house;

56 Ref And for a growth or a bad place or a bright mark on the skin;

57 Ref To make clear when it is unclean and when it is clean: this is the law about the disease of the leper.
